How does the map editor work?

With the map editor you can implement small changes to existing plans yourself in just a few steps.

How can I find the map editor?

To open the map editor, please go to the admin area of Flexopus. Then click in the left navigation bar on Locations --> Floor plans --> and then on the desired floor plan you want to edit --> Now you see the current plan. Click on the button "Open map editor" --> Now the map editor opens.

What is supported by the map editor?

The map editor allows you to edit the existing maps. The current range of functions allows you to edit the object layer of the maps. Changes to the environment such as walls or other objects are not yet possible. The following use cases are covered with the current version:

  • Add new objects (desk, meeting room, parking lot, furniture, special objects).
  • Remove existing objects
  • Move or rotate existing objects

How do I add an object?

  1. Open the map editor.
  2. Select the plus "+" from the top menu bar.
    Cursor_and_Flexopus_-_Die_Desk-Sharing-Lösung
  3. In the selection on the right, select the desired object (new work station, meeting room, parking spot, furniture, etc.).
  4. Click the desired location on the map where you want to place the object.
  5. Now you still have the option to move the object to the exact position you want or to rotate the object.
  6. After completing the changes, they must be published. To do this, click on 'Publish' in the upper right corner and then on 'Update map'.

How do I remove/delete an existing object?

  1. Open the map editor
  2. Select the pointer from the upper menu bar
    Flexopus_-_Die_Desk-Sharing-Lösung-1
  3. Select the desired object. Press Shift for multiple selection.
  4. Press the Backspace/Delete key on your keyboard.
Alternatively, the object can also be selected and deleted in the left bar with a right click or a click on the three menu items.

  5. After completing the changes, they must be published. To do this, click on 'Publish' in the upper right corner and then on 'Update map'.

Using the map editor

You can find the map editor in the edit mode (pencil icon) of the respective floor plans. Select "Open map editor" to make changes.

You can edit the map using the icons on the left:

  • Navigation: Select Navigation to move the map.
  • Selection: Select Selection to move existing objects.
  • Spaces: Select Spaces to add new workspaces
  • Parking: Select Parking to add new parking spaces
  • Rooms: Select Rooms to add new meeting rooms

Publish the plan using the green button at the top and confirm your changes in the location editor view.

Attention: Note that you can delete objects with already existing bookings during editing. These objects will be marked with a red exclamation mark in the list in the map editor. Moreover, the map editor does not save your work. Therefore, you must publish your changes, otherwise they will be lost. We recommend that you make minor changes to the map several times.

Why do my existing objects on the plan look different from those available to me in the editor library?

Sometimes the tables may look slightly different than in the editor library. With our own map editor we try to unify the style. If you want to reuse the previous objects of the previous map, then the object can be copied and pasted with the usual key combination to keep the "old style":

  • Windows: STRG + C und STRG + V
  • Mac: CMD + C und CMD + V

How can I make other plan adjustments?

For other changes, you can always contact our Flexopus Creation at support@flexopus.com. Our creative colleagues can help you further customise the plans to meet your needs. You can also export the plans. Edit the plan in the map editor and send us your preliminary design. We will be happy to refine your changes afterwards.
